Country Snow
On January 22, 2016 Metcalfe and surrounding counties received the biggest snowfall that I can remember in a very long time. Gov. Matt Bevin declared Metcalfe County a state of emergency both Friday and Saturday. It was a beautiful day with ice glistening in the trees! I woke up at 5:30 a.m. and was amazed at the beauty out my front door. I grinned from ear to ear as if I were a small child. When it was all said and done, we received 12-13 inches of snow with drifts two to three feet deep. I wanted to get out and take some pictures but the roads were really bad. Instead of giving up, I decided to photograph what I thought was interesting in and around our property. I was not disappointed, everything was so beautiful with a coat of fresh snow. The garden & landscape takes on a different look with each season. That is what's so fantastic about Kentucky weather. We have beautiful spring weather, a great summer, gorgeous fall color & then we are blessed with an outstanding snowfall in winter. I never tire of photographing my garden!
