Sunrise at Reelfoot Lake
Reelfoot Lake – Tiptonville, TN
Reelfoot Lake is located mostly in Tennessee but a small portion of it is located in western Kentucky. Reelfoot Lake is noted for its fishing, boating and wildlife viewing. The 15,000 acre lake was created by a series of violent earthquakes in 1811-1812 that caused the Mississippi River to flow backwards for a short period of time, creating Reelfoot Lake. The majestic cypress trees are both beautiful and eerie. Bird watching is very popular on Reelfoot Lake because of the abundance of species that can be observed throughout the year. There are over 240 plus species in the Reelfoot Lake area. They include American bald eagles, shorebirds, warblers, songbirds, herons, egrets, pelicans, osprey and many others.
