Reelfoot Lake is a shallow natural lake which was formed during the 1811-1812 New Madrid earthquakes. The current of the Mississippi River shifted and flowed backwards forming the shallow lake. It's really more of a bayou than a lake. Numerous waterfowl migrate through this area including American bald eagles. Many avid fisherman fish these shallow waters catching crappy and other fish. The eerie, deciduous bald cypress trees stand tall reflecting in the waters. The sunset or sunrise in a stunning site to behold. The lake is located in Tennessee with a small portion located in Kentucky.
